I am Jacquie, the face behind Mystical Macabre. As a busy grad student, I found foraging in nature was the best way for me to find peace after a chaotic week in lab. However, living in the PNW allowed my dried flora, stone, and insect collection to quickly accumulate, so I started handcrafting oddity frames and terrariums using vintage items I find at thrift stores.

What does Mystical Macabre mean?

Something that is mystical involves having a spiritual meaning or reality that is not immediately apparent to the senses or mind. I am inspired by many ancient cultures believing in the mystical healing properties of herbs and crystals.

Macabre is simply having death as a subject. And obviously since we use dried flora and taxidermy as our primary materials I felt like it was very fitting. Plus I am a sucker for alliterations!
